This 1855 map features the Cape Fear River along the North Carolina Coast from north of Federal Point (south of Wilmington) to the Frying Pan Shoals. It was made from a trigonometrical survey by the Superintendent of the Survey of the Coast of the United States. It includes towns, bodies of water, water depths, shoals, islands and marshes. It also includes charts on currents, tides and longitude and latitude . In addition, there is a detailed inset of Frying Pan Shoals.
